Psalms 116:15  Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.  Psalms 116:15 is so special and meaningful because we that are His children have the leadership of His Holy Spirit here and have fellowship with Him constantly.  After death we then can and many will be in His presence.  Our life will not stop at death and the graveyard.  We will be with our father the Lord of the universe.

Many whose bodies are buried in Haynes Creek Cemetery are in His presence now.  I know we miss them very much but , as my Pastor told my mom and myself in 1988 when dad died, he is happier than he has ever been and would not want to come back even if he could.  So I’m very thankful for Jesus Christ who gave himself for us so that if we believe in him, ask him to save us and repent of our sins he will indeed save us.

This cemetery holds memories of many of our loved ones that have gone on to be with our Lord and we want to do our best to preserve those memories.  Your work on your individual lots, work at the work-days, your donations and especially your prayers are greatly appreciated.  May God continue to bless and lead you.

Larry Rutledge

COPING

Many, many times you have been encouraged to put coping around your grave sites if it has not already been done.  Because of our limited records, this will let us know that it is owned by someone and cut down on confusion.

MEMORIAL SERVICE

We had a very good memorial service May 10, 2008.  The Knight sisters and Legacy of Praise did a great job singing for us under the outside Pavilion.  Mr. R. H. Thomas and Margie McBryar shared early memories of Haynes Creek.   Elaine Roberts shared information of several families buried in the cemetery.  Pastor Loyd Stancil from Rosebud Baptist Church brought our devotion.  We then shared names of those buried in the last 12 months and had prayer for their families.  It proved to be a great time of remembrance.

Our next Memorial service is planned for Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.  Mr Marvin Worthy, the Gwinnett County Historian is scheduled to speak and others also.  Put this date on your calendar and come join us.

 MAILING LIST

Please notify Larry or Janice Rutledge at 770-972-2008 to have family members added or deleted from the list.

 BEFORE YOU DIG

Before you ask for a grave to be dug, it is cemetery policy that you notify Chris Rutledge at 770-861-2528.  This way we will have a record of who and where people are buried for future references.

WORK DAYS

We have 2 planned work days each year.  Everyone is invited at 9:00 a.m. the Saturday before Thanksgiving and the third Saturday in April.  Many thanks to Harold Landress, Norma Billingsley, Lillian Sellers, Susan Pearson, Tommy Rutledge, Chris Rutledge and Larry Rutledge for coming out on our April 19, 2008 work day.  We got much accomplished.

CLEANING POLICY

As a part of our workday, our policy is to remove any old looking faded flowers.  It would be very helpful if you did it on your lot before we have to.  All of this is for the total beautification of the cemetery.  We appreciate all you do to help.

Thank you very much for all your help physically and for your donations to the cemetery fund.  Because of your help, much has been done in the last several years to improve the cemetery.  Noted below are some of those improvements.

Ongoing maintenance of cemetery, grass cutting, etc.  Construction of granite columns at the entrance of cemetery.  Drain piping installed to control soil erosion.  Paving of parking area north of the church.  Completion of paving drive between Section 3 & 4.  Partnering with the church on a new pavilion and ramp to the church building.  Constuction of memorial area and solid granite bell tower.  Removal of rotten and fallen trees.  Relocating 2 grave sites in middle of drive back between Sections 1 & 2.  Cleaning out woods behind the church where we believe slaves are buried.  Material & supplies used on work days.

We are very thankful to the Lord and you for these improvements.  May He continue to bless as we attempt to do other improvements in the future.

Please remember that all your donations are used for the cemetery and they are tax deductable.  You can mail them to Haynes Creek Cemetery Committee % Evelyn Elliott, 414 Chicamauga Ct., Loganville, GA 30052.  Thank you and may God continue to bless and lead you.
