Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalms 116:15
Thank you, thank you to our Lord Jesus for giving himself for us so that we can have eternal life with him when we believe in him his death and resurrection, repent of our sins and ask him into our hearts to save us. He is so good.
Also thanks to our cemetery committee for their hard work and to you, family and friends of
Haynes
Creek
Cemetery
for your prayers, keeping your grave sites neat and for your monetary contributions. Because of all of the above the cemetery is in good condition.
Thanks to Chloe Rutledge for her work as secretary of the committee. Chloe has done this work since the mid 90’s. Chloe is at a point in her life that she is passing this work on to someone else. At our last meeting Kristy McCullers was approved to become our new secretary. Thank you Kristy for accepting. Thanks again Chloe for your hard work. Chloe is remaining on the committee to work in various areas.
KEEP THE MEMORIES ALIVE
We have received some information but would like much more. If you would please send us any stories or biographies on people buried here it will be greatly appreciated. We can possibly use it in future newsletters and memorial services. We might even in the future have a special cemetery visitation day where we would have people dress the part and tell this info near the grave site as if that person was actually talking. So please send them to Larry Rutledge,
P O Box 347
,
Snellville
,
GA

or e-mail to larry_rutledge@bellsouth.net.

Thank you, committee members for your work in caring for our historic cemetery. Eunice Wade, who passed away January 16, 2011, was a faithful member of the cemetery committee since its beginning. She was also a member of the church. She will be greatly missed.
Harold Landress has been a member of the committee since 1989. Harold lives close to the cemetery and has done lots of work there. Following is a brief biography of him as we would like to tell you more about our committee members.
He was born June 10, 1932, on
Parkwood Road
,
Snellville
,
Ga.
to Thomas Lester and Minnie Sue Black Landress. Harold is one of 6 children. He went to school at the old
Snellville
School
and joined
Snellville
Baptist
Church
in the late 1940’s. He is now a member of
Rosebud
Baptist
Church
. He started work at the age of 15 at the Atlanta Brush Co. and later worked at the General Motors’
Lakewood
plant where he retired in 1982.
After dating Polly Braswell for 6 months, they married on March 9, 1952. They have 4 daughters, Marsha Sue Brewer, Wanda Lynn Algood, Mary Carol Brand and Cheryl Renee Noble.
Thank you Harold for all your continued interest and work on our historic cemetery.
WEB SITE
Our web site is www.haynescreekcemetery.com.
Note: You may google
Haynes
Creek
Cemetery
and get a site which has several pictures of tombstones and some bio info of people buried there, but this site has no affiliation with our committee. You have to use our web address to get to our site.
COPING
Please put coping around your grave site if you haven’t already. This may be the only way we know that it is taken. In fact just a few days ago we had a burial in an empty (but coped) 2 grave lot that we had no record of who it belonged to until the burial. As we have stated times before in newsletters that the cemetery for many years was handled and kept track of by people that did a good job but we have very limited records of who many sites belong to. So please help us by doing this.
MAILING LIST
It benefits the cemetery to expand our mailing list, so if you have family members or friends that would like to be on it please notify Larry Rutledge at the above address, also let us know of deletions.
BEFORE YOU DIG
Before you have a grave dug, our policy is for you to notify Chris Rutledge at 770-861-2528. This helps us do a better job managing the cemetery. Also we ask that you have them remove the extra dirt from the cemetery property.
WORK DAYS
Every one of you are invited to our 2 work days each year. They are the Saturday before Thanksgiving and the 3rd Saturday in April at 9:00 a.m. We are usually finished by 1:00 p.m. Please come, we need you. This is a historic event; if you look on our web site you will see a picture of people at a work day back (almost 100 years ago) in 1913.
MEMORIAL SERVICE
Our next Memorial Service is May 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. inside the church. Mr. Marvin Nash Worthy, Gwinnett Historian, has agreed to come again. He is a walking history book and very interesting to hear speak. The Legacy of Praise will sing for us again. Rev. Guy Priester, Senior Adult Minister at First Baptist Snellville will bring our devotion. Nan Wilson will speak about some historical events of the church. It should be a great time to help keep those memories alive. Plan to attend and bring any info you might like to show others.

PEOPLE OF THE PAST
More on Mrs. Eunice Wade, B 3-16-1911, D 1-16-2011.
She was born in
Loganville
,
Ga.
to Fannie Brand Brooks and Joel Collie Brooks. She was married to Elder Ernest R. Wade for 33 years. They have four children, Evelyn Elliott, Bettye Britt, Jack and Joe Wade. She worked for 10 years at the Lovable Bra Company in
Atlanta
, but her greatest joy was being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a long time member of
Haynes
Creek
Primitive
Baptist
Church
.
She loved to quilt, work in her garden, cook and play cards, especially canasta and Skip-Bo. She was known for making delicious “Fried Apple Pies”.
As we said earlier, Mrs. Wade was a member of the Cemetery Committee from its beginning and had a great interest in keeping the cemetery and church looking good. She is greatly missed.
Adolphus O. Green, B 9-25-1897, D 12-3-1976. Cpl.
U.S.
Army, World War 1.
He was born to Louis W. and Emma C. Green. He lived most of his life in the Loganville area, working as a front end loader operator and built a race track in
Lithonia
,
Ga.
He had a passion for gardening and helped many people with food from his garden. He liked taking vegetables to the elderly and loved coming and working in the cemetery. Unfortunately his home caught fire in December, 1976 and he was overcome by the fire. We appreciate people like Mr. Green and the interest they had in keeping the cemetery maintained.
